Tip #1 is not to put ads on empty pages. Sounds funny at first, but sometimes people build a website in stages and they might have a bunch of empty pages with meta data, etc., but no content at first. If you have your adsense code in there, the ads will be public service ads, and then when you finally change your webpage, Google may take up to 2-3 weeks before the changes are reflected in their index. All that time only public service ads will display which don’t earn any money for click thru’s. So, it’s better to have at least some relevant text on your pages before adding adsense.
Tip #2 is to check your keyword density. Google says that it’s the text content and not the meta tags for determining which ads will be displayed. You can use a free tool (just google a search) for checking keyword density to help you get the most relevant ads on your pages.
Tip #3 is to manage your own adsense account. Some folks outsource their website management to third parties which can be a good thing allowing you more time to do other things. But, it’s better to at least have the adsense account registered in your name so you aren’t being taken advantage of, and also for tax purposes the checks from Google should be sent directly to you. Good Luck!
